Requirements

A) Qualifications and Competencies

Minimum of Grade 12 / Matric Certificate or equivalent qualification at NQF Level 4.

B) Knowledge and Skills

Basic reading, writing, and calculation skills.

Physically fit to carry malaria spray cans for indoor house spraying and treatment of water bodies.

Ability to work with chemicals.

 

Key Performance Areas

Mixing of insecticides.

Loading and offloading goods.

Assisting with moving and covering clients’ property (furniture) before spraying.

Cleaning functions at malaria stations (vehicles, cans, buildings, and surroundings).

Completing spray and hut card (SP 1) during spray operations.

Data capturing.

Conducting environmental and community surveillance.

Conditions and Requirements:

  • Applicants must be between 25 and 40 years old.
  • Female applicants must not be pregnant or breastfeeding due to the use of chemicals in malaria control. Pregnancy tests will be conducted before and during the contract to verify status.
  • Applicants must be unemployed, not receiving any government grant or stipend, and not engaged in full-time scholarly activities.

  • Applications must include a fully completed and signed new Z83 form (obtainable from any government institution or at www.dpsa.gov.za) and a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  • Z83 Form Requirements:
    • Complete Part A, Part C, and Part D in full.
    • In Part B, complete all fields except:
    • South African applicants need not provide passport numbers.
    • If you answer “No” to the question “Are you conducting business with the State or are you a Director of a Public or Private company conducting business with the State?”, you may indicate “not applicable” or leave blank the question, “If yes (provide detail), ‘In the event that you are employed in the Public Service, will you immediately relinquish such business interest?’”
    • If your profession or occupation does not require official registration, you may leave the question about registration details blank.
    • For Part E, F, & G, if space is limited, you may indicate “refer to CV” or “see attached,” provided the CV includes the required information. If the information is not provided in the CV, the application may be disqualified.
    • The CV is an extension of the Z83 form, and applicants are accountable for the accuracy of the information provided.
    • Questions in Part F regarding conditions that prevent re-appointment must be answered.

Selection Process:

 

Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend an interview and submit certified copies of all relevant qualifications and a copy of their ID.

Shortlisted candidates will undergo two pre-entry assessments:

A practical exercise.

An Integrity (Ethical Conduct) Assessment as per the Directive on Human Resource Management and Development for Public Service Professionalization, effective from 01 April 2024.

Successful candidates will be subjected to security clearance (vetting) as per the same Directive.

Communication:

 

Correspondence will be limited to shortlisted candidates only.

If you do not hear from the Department within 90 days of the closing date, consider your application unsuccessful.

If dissatisfied, applicants may request reasons for administrative actions that adversely affected them within 90 days, as per Section 5(1)(2) of the Promotion of Administrative Justice Act 3 of 2000.
