
South African National Parks (SANParks) invites interested and suitably qualified candidates to apply for various General Worker positions at the Kruger National Park. These opportunities are available within the Marula and Nxanatseni Regions, as well as at multiple rest camps across the park. The contracts include both six-month fixed-term positions and temporary school holiday appointments.
Successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness, assisting with gardening services, supporting housekeeping duties, and ensuring that camp facilities and public areas are kept in a safe and well-maintained condition. Duties may include landscaping, waste management, pool maintenance, cleaning of chalets and ablution facilities, inventory control, and reporting maintenance faults. All tasks must be performed in accordance with health and safety standards.

The successful candidates’ responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Key Performance Areas
• Ensure that the general appearance of the camps, day visitors’ areas and other public areas is clean and well-maintained.
• Mow lawns, water plants, trees and grass, and keep the grounds clean and litter-free.
• Clean and maintain swimming pools and surrounding areas.
• Ensure proper pruning and trimming of trees and shrubs to maintain a pleasant appearance and plant health.
• Clean outside corridors, parking areas and pathways of the camp.
• Assist with waste management and separation for recycling.
• Conduct inventory of tools, equipment and materials.
• Ensure sufficient supplies are available and items are clean and usable.
• Identify diseases or pests affecting landscaping and arrange appropriate treatments.
• Mix or apply fertilizers, insecticides, herbicides or fungicides where required.
• Ensure only indigenous plants are planted in camp gardens and remove alien plants.
Requirements
• Grade 12.
• Competency certificate in operating a chainsaw or brush cutter will be an added advantage.
• Previous experience in landscaping and/or garden maintenance.
• Good understanding of plant care (trees, shrubs and flowers).
• Understanding of waste management and recycling principles.
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).
• Good knowledge of tools, handling and aftercare.
• Ability to work across teams.
