South African Citizen: Must be a resident of South Africa.

Educational Background: Possess a school-leaving certificate or tertiary qualifications (if applicable).

Disability Status (if applicable): Per the Employment Equity Act 55 of 1998, individuals with long-term or recurring physical or mental impairments that limit employment prospects qualify as persons with disabilities. Physical impairments include partial/total loss of bodily function or sensory impairments; mental impairments involve clinically recognized conditions affecting thought, judgment, or emotions.

Unemployed or Underemployed: Priority given to unemployed youth or those seeking skills development.

No Criminal Record: Applicants must have a clean criminal record, subject to validation.

The SDC learner application process is designed to identify and place eligible candidates into learnerships aligned with client B-BBEE needs. Follow these steps:

Online Submission: Eligible learners (abled and disabled) must submit their details via the SDC website to join the learner sourcing pool

Shortlisted applicants will be invited for a brief interview to assess:

Step 5: Assessment Test

Applicants must complete an assessment test and achieve a minimum score of 80% to proceed.

 

Step 6: Validation and Database Inclusion

Upon successful completion of steps 1–5, SDC validates all documentation, interview notes, and test results. Approved applicants are added to the validated applicant database. A waiting period may apply, as placement depends on client B-BBEE Skills Development needs.

 

Step 7: Learnership Placement

Once allocated to a learnership, successful applicants are invited to an SDC campus to sign their contract and begin the programme.
