
CAMPUS CARETAKER (LIVE-IN POSITION)
FULL TIME, PERMANENT POSITION
Thomas More College seeks a dedicated and reliable Campus Caretaker to join our Facilities team. This live-in role is ideal for a single person who takes pride in maintaining a safe, functional, and well-kept campus. The position requires flexibility, hands-on maintenance ability, and readiness to respond to after-hours needs and emergencies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Facilities Manager and Estate Manager, the Campus Caretaker will:
Assist with daily maintenance, repairs, inspections, and small projects.
Attend to job cards and Health & Safety requirements.
Conduct routine checks on vehicles, trailers, and buses, ensuring servicing and compliance.
Manage movement of furniture, equipment setup, and material collection as required.
Support campus events through setup, equipment assistance, and post-event pack-up.
Refuel and operate generators during power outages.
Respond promptly to emergencies (plumbing, electrical, or security-related).
Provide after-hours and weekend standby support, including occasional bus driving (C1 with PDP required).
Maintain a safe, clean, and operational environment at all times.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Proven maintenance experience in electrical, plumbing, or general repairs (3–5 years preferred).
Hands-on, proactive problem-solving approach.
Adherence to the Christian Ethos of the School.
Strong reliability, integrity, and ability to work independently or within a team.
Good communication and time management skills.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and during emergencies.
Valid Code C1 driver’s licence with PDP (essential).
Understanding of Health & Safety and emergency procedures.
Adhere to the School code of conduct.
Criminal and Sexual Offender’s Clearance Certificate.
