Grade 1: R187 488 – R214 368 per annum

Minimum Requirements

Grade 1 – Basic Ambulance Assistant (BAA)

National Senior Certificate

Completed Basic Life Support (BLS) course

HPCSA registration as BAA

Code 10 driver’s licence with PDP

Understanding of BLS protocols

Grade 3 – Ambulance Emergency Assistant (AEA)

Completed Intermediate Life Support (ILS) course

HPCSA registration as AEA

Code 10 licence with PDP

Knowledge of ILS protocols

Key Duties

Emergency Care Officers in all districts will be responsible for:

 

Providing emergency medical care in line with HPCSA guidelines

Transporting patients safely and efficiently

Completing patient records, vehicle logs, and administrative documents

Cleaning, checking, and maintaining ambulances and medical equipment

Conducting inter-facility transfers when required

Carrying out responsibilities assigned by EMS supervisors
